January 4, 2010: Year of the Biscuits For Me!
Hi hi hi!
Guess what January 1st was?
Yes, yes, New Year's Day, start of a new decade, etc., etc., but most importantly, it was the birthday of ME, SUNSHINE! YAY! BIRTHDAY! DAY TO CELEBRATE ME! HOORAY!!! :) :) :)
So, in honor of me, Tui decided to bake me my very own dog biscuits from the extra-awesome mix & recipe which her sister and brother-in-law put together as favors for the baby shower (we had a few extra bags):![]()
Adorable dog biscuit party favors!
(That way Aunt Kari could be involved in my birthday, too, EVEN THOUGH she totally NEGLECTED to call and wish me a happy birthday OR sing to me over the phone AHEM AHEM.) (Hoping the guilt will lead to more treats and snuggles next time she sees me, mwa ha ha.) ;-)![]()
Inside the bags: Mix and recipe, ready to go! Exciting dog biscuits, here we come!
I sat on my kitchen pillow and supervised attentively. I could tell Tui was doing something for me, because she kept yapping at me about it, plus whatever she was working on smelled like cheese. CHEESE IS ALWAYS FOR ME. People tend to forget that and eat it themselves. Can you believe that? The nerve! I think everyone's New Year's resolution should be: If I have cheese, I MUST GIVE IT TO SUNSHINE. And then all will be right with the world.![]()
Rolling out the dough...mm, mm, appealing-looking!
The dough was a little sticky and didn't like being shaped into dog biscuit shapes with the nifty cookie cutter. Besides, I am a delicate little dog who prefers her treats small and chewy, so Tui made only a couple of dog bone shapes and did the rest as little Sunshine-friendly cookie bubbles.![]()
Oh, we're very artistically talented in this house.
And THEN....we had to wait an hour and a half. AN HOUR AND A HALF! So much baking! Want cookies now! Whole house smelling like cheesy birthday biscuits but nothing for me yet! Boo on waiting! Birthdays are for instant gratification! Whine whine whine!
But finally...![]()
TADA!
Thrilling biscuits! All for me! Yumtastic! Now if only Maui and Oliver were here so I could lord it over them. No, they are MINE biscuits because it is MINE birthday and you CANNOT HAVE THEM MINE.
Yaaaaaaaaaay BIRTHDAY! :-)
Oh, and how old am I? I'll let the author of Winnie-the-Pooh give you the answer in our very favorite poem:
Now We Are Six
by A. A. Milne
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.
Yup. Clever as clever! That's me! :-) And also full of yummy homemade birthday biscuits. :-) Thank you, Aunt Kari & Uncle Steve!
And for everyone else out there, I hope your new year and your 2010 birthday come with exciting treats and lots of snuggles and something that makes you stupendously happy!
Happy tails,
Sunshine! :-)
