December 7, 2009: Dispatch from Deep Inside Dogmania

Hi everyone!

We're on Day TWENTY of the invasion!  TWENTY DAYS OF DOGS ALL OVER THE PLACE!  Specifically all over MY place!

Uh, Mom?  I can't help but notice that CERTAIN FURRY PEOPLE haven't gone home yet...

DEEP.  SIGH.  Alas, for I am a put-upon dog!  If I can't be the one and only princess of my own house, what is the world coming to?  I ask you!

And in the meanwhile, lovely mail has arrived!  For me!  To answer!  So I'll take a break from rawring and pouncing on Maui's head and hiding on the couch whenever Oliver's racing around in circles to address some of these thrilling questions:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi!  I am Grace and I love your books and I wanted to know when Oh No, Newf! is coming out!  :-)

Hi Grace!  Thank you for your excellent questions!  Yay for Pet Trouble fans!  Oh No, Newf is coming out right at the beginning of February...not too far away!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Sunshine. (:  Do you know when Tui's baby's due? :D

Tui says:  February 3rd...at the same time as Oh No, Newf!  Eeeeeeek!  :-)  Which does feel very soon in some ways (ack!)...but very far away when one thinks about being THIS SIZE AND BIGGER for that long!

Sunshine says:  I have no idea what you're talking about.  LA LA LA I will always be the baby of the house LA LA LA I don't see any tiny furniture LA LA LA all stuffed toys will always be for me! LA LA LA denial is fun LA.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are the Pet Trouble books autobiography or biography?

Ruh-roh...neither, I'm afraid!  Some of the dogs (especially Buttons!) are loosely based on real dogs, but all of the stories and characters are totally made up.  (Even the ones named after kids we know -- like, there is a real Heidi, who is SUPER-CRAZY-ADORABLE, but she's only two right now, so we have no idea if she'll be like the Pet Trouble Heidi one day!) (But we hope she'll like dogs!  Especially me!  She liked me the one time she met me, so that seems like a good sign.)  :-)

What is something you like to eat and to do? You're a cute dog.
Amelia

Aw, thanks, Amelia!  One of the things I love to do is read emails from readers like you...especially when they tell me I'm cute!  Woo hoo!  :-)  I also love to chase tennis balls up and down the yard or in the park.  And I LOVE SNOW!  We had our first snowfall of the year this weekend, and I went out and raced around in it until I was totally covered in tiny snowballs.

Me snow-diving (a couple years ago...we don't have this much snow yet!)

SnowPuppy2
Me very happily buried in snow!

Me in my snow pantaloons!

I also like jumping on Maui's head, snoozing on Tui's lap while she writes, showing off my tricks and agility training, and long walks in the park (or anywhere with lots of exciting other-dog smells!).  My favorite foods are cheese and ham and dried chicken treats -- especially cheese!  I'll do anything for cheese!

Hmmm.  It's suspiciously quiet out in the living room where the other dogs are.  Perhaps I should go give them a stern face and make sure they're behaving.  I'm getting very good at my stern face!  Also my don't-you-even-think-of-jumping-onto-this-couch-and-trampling-me warning growl.  I can be very fierce when I need to be!  Although I must admit it's a lot more relaxing when I don't need to be.  SIGH.

Ah well...paws crossed that I get my house back soon!  Thank you all for your emails!  Hooray!

Happy tails,
Sunshine!  :-)
